Preliminary Task
In today's lesson we had a task to do. This task was to create a short film about something simple such as having a conversation with one person to another. We had to do the preliminary task, to show our skills and that we are capable of filming and editing. My group consisted of Me, Cameron Roberts and Jamal Asher. The three of us used filming techniques in our films like the 180 degree rule which meant during a conversations we would only start in one half when filming, we did this because it looked more effective than if the camera shots were all over the place. Match on action was another type of shot/technique we used so everything flowed nicely. Match on action is when for example a cup is being pured in the background and then the shot type changes, the amount of liquid been poured in the cup is the same as before. Another technique we used was shot, reverse shot which is when we filmed from one person speaking to another from perhaps an over the shoulder shot. This gives a great point of view of both actors. We had to consider miss en scene when filming because we wanted everything in the shot to be their for a reason.

Donny Darko - EBI
The induction task were not very enjoyable and got very boring at times, but one task in particular that I did not enjoy was the 'Donny Darko recreation' task. We basically had to watch a 1 minute and 30second clip of the film Donny Darko and then recreate it but in the school. We got put into random groups which did not help because their was a lack of communication between us. In this task I played the role as Donny Darko because I don't mind acting infront of the camera, and because no one else wanted to.

When storyboarding this clip, we had a variety of shots but all in the same room. We all took a role each as their were 4 roles, and we had 4 people in the group. It took us a few hours to get the filming and editing done. The bad thing about this task is we didn't really have a long time to do this, especially when the storyboarding took a whole lesson. Also we had 'uploading' problems which just added to the time. Finally overall it didn't really look that impressive. This task could of been improved if we could pick our own groups with more people in them and a few more lessons on this task.

Jobsite Advert - WWW
When I was doing my induction tasks, I came across one very interesting one which was 're-creating the job site advert'. This task would involve all the main media skills, such as planning, storyboarding, filming and editing. Being one of the more confident people out of my group, I stepped up to the task of being the main role in the film, which meant I had to do a lot of speaking and acting. The filming was the most successful part of the task, because we had a wide range of shots and very interesting destinations and it would flow really effectively together. Also my acting was good, because I spoke clear and got the main message across to the audience and got good comments about it.

This was my favourite task because the final creation was really good and the whole class liked and enjoyed watching it. I got a lot of compliments in my funny/confident approach when speaking in the film. Overall I would rate this task a 9/10.
